Exciting news! I have accepted a faculty position in the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. Check out my lab website for more information (still a work in progress).
The focus of my research lab will be on contaminant biogeochemistry, with a specific emphasis on microbial-mediated processes. From a field work perspective, there will be a specific emphasis on the Great Lakes region. I also plan to conduct culture-based research on the mercury methylation process. At the heart of all my research, I aim to use a highly interdisciplinary approach to use microbial physiology and ecology as a window into the inner workings of biogeochemical cycles in natural ecosystems. As a native Wisconsite, I am looking forward to the opportunity to develop my own research program close to home, on ecosystems that have long been near and dear to my heart. I will be looking to hire graduate students and postdocs starting in 2025. Initial projects will focus on water column mercury methylation in the Great Lakes and starting up a culture-based program to investigate mercury methylation in detail, but I'm open to other ideas. Nearly all of my research has been highly interdisciplinary and collaborative across multiple institutions, and I hope to continue that trend.
